TitleFirst TV weekDate of publication2 September 1959Description
"Whatever you seek in entertainment, be it variety, culture, excitement, travel or fantasy, television will provide it for you." So promised the first edition of the Adelaide TV Week (September 2-8, 1959).
Following test broadcasts, NWS 9 began full-time transmission on September 5, 1959. Joined shortly by ADS 7 on October 24.
Like in the eastern states, early Adelaide television was filled with overseas content; westerns, mysteries and war stories particularly dominant. On opening night, local content was confined to the news bulletin and This is Channel Nine, a special documenting the birth of the new station.
