Introduced in 1962 the EJ Holden was a completely new look - streamlined, squarish body with more interior space and better visibilty. It had the same wheelbase as the EK but was lower, wider and shorter with the same ground clearance. Mechanically the EJ was as the EK, retaining the grey motor. Holden's first luxury car, the Premier, was introduced to the model line up. They were identified by a gold and red badging on boot lid and front guards, stainless steel wheel trims and whitewall tyres. Model range included the standard sedan and station wagon, special sedan and station wagon, Premier sedan, utility and panel van. The one millionth Holden (1MH) was a metallic gold EJ Premier, produced at Dandenong on 25-10-62.

Released in August 1963 the EH Holden was the fastest selling Australian car ever, with more than 250 000 being sold in 18 months. A facelift of the EJ, it also had a new 6 cylinder engine available ('red engine') in 149ci and 179ci. Two competition models were released - the high performance 54 (only 120 produced) which came 2nd at Bathurst in 1963 and S22. The EH was generally available in 8 models - standard sedan and station wagon, Special sedan and station wagon, Premier sedan and wagon, utility and panel van.
