Tom Leahy, known as 'The Prince of Ruckmen', started his career with West Adelaide and played in their 1908 and 1909 premierships, and 1908 Australian club championship. A rift at West caused him to transfer to North Adelaide in 1909. He won the Magarey Medal in 1913 and, in 1919 became captain-coach and took the Northerners to the premiership in 1920.
He was selected in every South Australian team from 1906 until 1921 - 27 games. After retiring as a player he coached Norwood to two premierships.
