The Aboriginal Education Foundation of SA was established in 1965 with Mr Laurie Bryan as its first Secretary. It was founded to improve the quality of life of Aboriginal people, particularly children, by giving them access to kindergarten programmes and supporting initiatives for education at higher levels. It employed social workers and through government funding made a significant contribution to improving conditions for indigenous people. The Foundation discontinued its operations in 1996.
