History/biography
Lancelot (Lance) Leonard Hill made his first rotary clothes line in the laundry of his home at 7 Bevington Rd, Glenunga. He went into partnership with his brother-in-law Harold Ling to form a company Hills Hoist Ltd. The first factory was built at 262A Glen Osmond Road, and in 1954 a new factory was built on South Road, Edwardstown. Lance Hill retired as Managing Director 21 March 1956. He died 7 March 1986.
