Australia's participation in the Vietnam War was fiercely opposed by some individuals and organised groups. Malcolm Saunders wrote an account of the South Australian protest organisations for the Journal of the Historical Society of South Australia (no. 10, 1982). The State Library's archival collections have much material relating to the anti-war movement including posters, flyers, details of lectures and meetings and letters of support for those opposing the war from individual sympathisers. One of the most active and broadly supported South Australian anti-Vietnam organisations was the Campaign for Peace in Vietnam Movement. It was a well-organised group, which kept extensive records; many of which are held in the State Library's archival collections.
