Includes transcripts of the diary prepared by Iris Fraser in both its original language and a more up-to-date style, and two letters, one containing biographical information and the other confirmation of the name of the ship.History/biographyAndrew Blick was born on the 14th February 1842 in Minchinhampton, Gloucestershire, England, the son of Maria (nee Giffen) and Charles Blick. He sailed from England on the ship 'Matlida Atheling' and arrived in Adelaide on the 20th February 1865. It is unknown whether he worked in Adelaide for a time or was just visiting his sister and brother-in-law, Ellen Blick and George Glass, who had married in England in 1856 and come to Australia a couple of years later, possibly on the ship 'Bee' which arrived in Adelaide on the 9th October 1858. Andrew eventually moved to New Zealand and on the 14th December 1868 he married Emma Jane Dew in Nelson, NZ.
