'Kingsford' a house near Gawler

The Channel 9 television network bought Kingsford for use as the production base for the popular drama series McLeod’s Daughters, which ran for eight seasons from 2001 to 2009. The series was shot on location around Gawler and Freeling and Kingsford was used as the setting for the property 'Drovers Run'. When Tess (Bridie Carter) and Nick (Myles Pollard) wed in the show's 100th episode in 2004, McLeod's was the most watched drama on Australian television, averaging 1.5 million viewers a week.

The large-scale production injected money into the local economy, employing around 70 people each season. Broadcast in more than 200 territories worldwide, McLeod's Daughters introduced the South Australian landscape to its extensive international audience.
