360 degree panorama of Adelaide taken by Townsend Duryea from the Adelaide Town Hall tower. The panorama consists of original photographic prints pasted in sequence onto calico.
The panorama is composed of 14 photographs. Seen together they give a bird's eye view of colonial Adelaide and the building activity during this period. The vista extends as far as the parklands and an interesting feature is the lack of trees at this time. The method of photography Duryea used in 1853 was the wet-plate process which had superseded the earlier daguerrotype.
