More advice for emigrants

This is the first of a series of articles about Australia and the prospect for emigrants. It discusses population levels, climate, vegetation as well as the practical essentials for a comfortable voyage.

It provides some detail on South Australia, including climate and refers to the copper mines of South Australia at Kapunda and Burra. The article also comments on the 'upside downness' of Australia and its strange vegetation and fauna.

The article continues with information on the voyage itself: the route across the Atlantic Ocean and then the Indian Ocean and the time difference between Australia and England. Advice in the choice of vessel is offered, the costs of passage and finally advice to 'those who sail away from us, should learn how to stitch and use tools on their passage so as to be their own tailors and carpenters when settled in Australia.'
