Ross (left) and Keith (right) can been seen in the cockpit of the Vickers Vimy.History/biographySir Ross MacPherson Smith together with his brother Sir Keith MacPherson Smith became the first pilots to fly from England to Australia in 1919. The trip took 28 days and 135 flying hours. Sir Ross Smith had landed in Gallipol in 1915, was later awarded the Military Cross and the Distinguished Flying Cross. He was pilot for 'Lawrence of Arabia'. He was killed during a test flight of the Vickers Viking aircraft.
