The 'Merle', a stern wheel paddle steamer owned by river trader Edward Diener; it pulled the shop barges 'Eva Millicent' and 'Flo D' between 1903 and 1917 when it sank in Lake Alexandrina, about a year later the 'Flo' was reconstructed as the 'Kookaburra'. The craft was originally named after Merle the daughter of Edward and Catherine Diener
