This poster was printed by R.F.M. Printing Group in Victoria in 1979 and features a painting of a Norwood footballer in action, possibly based on Michael Taylor. Norwood were the reigning premiers from 1978 when this poster was printed. This poster was produced as a piece of merchandise at a time of great success.
The Norwood Football Club was founded in 1878. They were the first champions of Australia in 1888 and runners up in the final champions of Australia in 1975. They are the second most successful club in the South Australian National Football League with 30 premierships, after Port Adelaide with 36. Port Adelaide Football Club lef tthe SANFL to join the AFL in 1997 and were replaced by the 'replica" Port Adelaide Magpies Football Club who subsequently merged with the Port Adelaide Football Club in 2010. The Magpies then became the Port Adelaide Football Club's reserves team.
