Roger North’s (1531-1600) career included positions as MP, Ambassador to France, and Treasurer of the Household. He was also a personal friend of the Queen’s favourite, Robert Dudley, Earl of Leicester. As Lord Lieutenant of Cambridgeshire he often clashed with University officials.

The document is written on vellum and has the seal of Queen Elizabeth I attached.
