Letter from George Matthews to Ross Smith. Matthews was part of another team in the England-Australia flight competition and writes in support of Ross against allegations published by Ernest Howell, the father of Captain Cedric Howell who also competed in the race but died when his aircraft crashed. E. Howell had contended that the commencement of the race had been delayed to suit the Smith crew and to disadvantage Captain Howell.
