Adelaide Festival of Arts, 1978

The tenth Adelaide Festival of Arts was held 25 February-19 March 1978.

Programmed by Artistic Director Anthony Steel, highlights included performances by Robyn Archer, The Philippe Genty Company, the Israel Philharmonic Orchestra, the Kabuki Theatre and Roger Woodward.

The program was not without controversy, and there were calls for the dismissal of Steel, himself a divisive character, for his inclusion of the Steven Berkoff play East, a graphic and violent depiction of life in London's East End.
