The sixteenth Adelaide Festival of Arts was held 1-18 March 1990.

Programmed by Artistic Director Clifford Hocking, the Festival program was described a 'eclectic'. Highlights included a concert by Argentinean singer Mercedes Sosa, Cinderella performed by the Lyon Opera Ballet and a landmark production of Wagner's Tristan and Isolde.
