Venues for our festivals have come in all shapes and sizes, colours and coverings, and in various states of repair...

The 1960 Festival opened with a concert at Elder Park; other venues included the Theatre Royal and the Regent Theatre. Over the years venues, such as Apollo Stadium and Centennial Hall have also hosted shows, and late night clubs, such as Barrio, have contributed to the festive atmosphere.

Barrio operated in the Hajek Plaza of the Adelaide Festival Centre, and was open Thursday to Sunday during the Festival, offering food and drink, music, and a range of stalls and carnival experiences that changed on a nightly basis.

The Fringe has spread through the city, suburbs and regional SA with venues such as Kustom Kulture, Holden Street Theatres and the Tuxedo Cat in its various incarnations.
