Writers' Week was held as part of the Adelaide Festival program, 5-10 March 2000.
Visiting writers included Janet Evanovich, Richard Ford, Hilary Mantel, Jane Smiley and Vikram Seth.
Australian authors on the program included Max Fatchen, Nikki Gemmel, Tom Keneally, Roger McDonald, Monty Boori Pryor, two time Miles Franklin winner Christopher Koch and former Prime Minster Paul Keating.
