Frederick Leopold 'Leo' Terrell's war medals, mounted on bar for wearing. From the First World War are two 1914-1918 medals, the first on the bar being a 1914-1915 Star, and a 'Great War for Civilisation 1914-1919' victory medal. World War Two medals (1939-1945) include one for Australian Service.

As an Able Seaman Sapper of the First Royal Australian Naval Bridging Train, Terrell sailed from Melbourne on HMAT Port Macquarie on 4 June 1915, and served at Gallipoli. He survived the war and returned to South Australia. In 1929 Leo left his job in the Railways and took his family to live at Cherry Gardens in the Adelaide Hills, joining other members of the family in the area.
