Panorama of London, or, a day's journey round the metropolis

The game may be played by any number of persons and uses an 8-sided teetotum (spinning top), marked 1 to 8. Through a series of rewards and forfeits the players advance around the game board, visiting the sights of London: these include the Billingsgate Fish Market, The Tower, Westminster Bridge, Greenwich Hospital, Corn Exchange and The Parade at St. James's Park. At number 41 'Harris's shop, the corner of St. Paul's Church-yard; where you may stop one turn, and receive a counter from each player, to purchase a NEW GAME, or an instructive Book, as your fancy may direct.' Harris's shop is large and the window displays a tempting selection of what may be found inside. The shop is surmounted by a sign "Harris's original Juvenile Library'. All the city locations are illustrated with attractive vignettes.

The publisher of the game was John Harris, a London bookseller and publisher of children's books. He took over the firm of Newbery in 1801 and several years later broke from the tradition of that firm and began to publish books that were purely for amusement. This proved highly successful for him, and he continued to publish this type of entertaining story alongside the more conventional and sober books of the period. He also published board games and with these and his books catered to the more affluent end of the market. His company continued to market its publications successfully for several decades until the early 1840s.
