I'd heard that grandchildren were sending drawings of themselves to their grandparents. So, I thought I'd do the same i.e. a drawing of myself. My partner traced around my body onto paper and then I painted it with the colours of the clothes I was wearing. I photocopied a blown-up photo of my head and then pasted it onto the body. It fitted into a large envelope once folded and I posted it to my 5 year-old grandson. He was delighted and his parents stuck it onto a large window in the family room. I had added a 'balloon' (as in graphic novels) wishing him happy birthday and explaining I couldn't be there. Evidently he and his siblings said hello to me each morning it stayed on the window. It also helped the one year-old remember me for the couple of months I didn't see them. My son, Leith, made the dinosaur cake.Place[1]
