Extracts made in the Archives Department from a manuscript book in the possession of a descendant of the author. The diary entries deal with Hughes' initial impressions of Adelaide on arrival in 1843 and daily life in the country while working on Booyoolie Station. Also included are some retrospective notes on aspects of country living made by Hughes in 1844.
