Pages 1-24: William May to J.M. Morris, in diary form, May 27 to October 18, 1839. (An account of the voyage to South Australia in the 'Anna Robertson', and his first impressions of the colony). Printed in 1911 in a pamphlet entitled Two Letters describing the Voyage of the May Family to South Australia in 1839 and its Settlement near Mount Barker.

Pages 24-37: Maria May to Miss Maria Morris. From Mount Barker, December 29, 1839. (Her impressions of Adelaide, discomforts of journey from Adelaide to Mount Barker, the primitive home at Mount Barker, and life on the farm there.) Printed in 1911 in the above-mentioned pamphlet.

Pages 38- Letters, in diary form, from Margaret May to Miss Maria Morris, May 28, 1843 to January 18, 1845.
