We also wanted to help collect a record of how different parts of our community experienced and coped with COVID-19.
We also noticed that the children in our community were having to spend a lot of time on screens and wanted to offer an alternative to that.
The Programs Team at the Adelaide Hills Council Library invited children from all around our community to take part. We had a small number of private participants and a lot of school classes join in.
The children created a postcard that reflected their experience of being at home during the most ‘locked-down’ time of COVID-19. They also wrote a short note on the back describing their experiences.
These post cards were then sent to older members of our community in residential care, or to people who were part of community groups. The older members of our community then made a post card to be sent back to the child.
Initially we imagined the project to have around 40 children participating, we ended up with 142! That meant a lot of postcards!
Thank you to everyone who participated in this delightful project. The cards that everyone made were a bright spot in challenging times and there was a lot of really positive feedback from everyone who participated.
