Locomotive book : educational, constructional

Brief history of locomotives in Great Britain and Australia, and a cut-out model to build. Part of the Children's Literature Research Collection.

This large-format model-making book contains coloured push-out pieces to create a model of the locomotive pictured on the cover. Intact copies such as this would be unusual as the book is actually designed to be pulled apart. This is a rare specimen of a complete unused book.

Another model book similar to this one is also held in the Children's Literature Research Collection, called 'Spitfire and Bomber Squadron' (Australia, 1941?).  This large-format model-making book contains 6 die-cut pages of push-out colour pieces to create models of the equipment and people who would have worked at allied airfields during World War II.
