Rockin' at the Hi-Fi Club

The Hi-Fi Club was one of Adelaide's most popular dances for teenagers in the early 1960s. The Club had links with the television program of the same name compered by Bert Newton, who would visit from Melbourne to host Club events at Centennial Hall. The Club was also held at the Palais Royal on North Terrace and then the Olympic Hall on Franklin Street.

This woven patch, and tie-clip, comes from the scrapbooks of Peter Knoblauch, a member of the Four Tones, who were a regular fixture on the Adelaide pop music scene from 1959 to 1965. They appeared on television, at many different venues including the Princeton Club at Burnside, and made their first record in 1963.
