Wandrin' star performed by Neil Kerley
Neil Kerley's recording of the song Wandrin' star was recorded live on Barry Ion Tonight Show, Channel 7, Adelaide. The song was originally written by Alan J Lerner (lyrics) and Frederick Loewe (music) for the stage musical Paint Your Wagon in 1951, and was made famous by actor Lee Marvin in the film version of 1969. The record cover gives the title spelling as Wandering star.

History/biographyNeil 'Knuckles' Kerley was known was the King of South Australian football. Born in Barmera in 1934 he started his South Australian National Football League (SANFL) career with West Adelaide in 1952. He finished playing in 1969, at Glenelg, with a 274-game record: 163 at West Adelaide, 56 as captain-coach at South Adelaide and 55 at Glenelg. He coached each of these clubs to premierships. He also coached West Torrens and Central District. He played 32 state games for South Australia including the famous victory over Victoria at the MCG in 1963.
Neil Kerley passed away on 29 June 2022, aged 88.
