Antiphonal : an excerpt sung by Flight of Ideas
A recording of part the proceedings of the party held to commemorate the beginning of the redevelopment of the State Library of South Australia, held in the Mortlock Building.
At the function an excerpt from the Antiphonal was performed by Flight of Ideas Chamber Choir.
The Antiphonal is possibly the best known of the State Library's treasures. The manuscript contains music and text used for sung responses celebrating the birth and life of Christ at church services from Christmas Eve to the end of the feast of Epiphany (13 January).
The supposition that the Antiphonal was created in central Italy, near Bologna, in the late 13th century, is based on the style of the manuscript, particularly the illumination.
Flight of Ideas was conducted by Tom Farnan and featured James Black, Celia Brissenden, Annabel Creevey, Kate Leeson, Paddy McGee and Josh Walstar
